Training carried out whilst you carry on with your present career. This will take anything from 6 to 18 months (we won’t insult your intelligence with a “get qualified in 4 weeks course”)
The first 4 modules each contain 100 hours of distance learning/home study; this is followed by 1 week at the training centre per section.
You will do all your practical installations as well as inspection/testing and fault finding here
On completion of the 4 sections you will have gained the following industry recognised qualifications.
Essential Electrics-C.I.T.B
C&G 2381 (16th edition)
C&G 2377 (P.A.T. Testing)
CSCS site Safety JIB Certificate
HSE (First Aid)
EAL Domestic Installer part 2
This will then enable you to register in a Part P scheme and work in the industry either employed or your own business.
Section 5
You will then be supplied further study materials and gain some valuable practical experience before returning to the centre for a further week to complete City and Guilds 2391 and take you up to level 3 qualification.
You will need commitment and determination to complete all the training but of course the rewards are excellent for a fully trained electrician. Since the introduction of Part P certification every builder, plumber, air-conditioning engineer, heating engineer, kitchen fitter, conservatory installer even alarm installers will no longer be able to complete electrical work. Add to this the new P.A.T testing legislation (compulsory portable appliance testing in businesses) and proposed home buyer’s reports you can imagine the demand for electricians will only grow.
Then of course there is the day to day work of the electrician new build, refurbishment work, house re wires and the endless list of smaller but profitable jobs.
Inspection and testing (now legislation on public buildings) is another huge growth area.
Have you noticed that even B & Q is now selling solar panels and windmills, as gas gets more expensive can you see the way things will develop?
Cost for the course is £5995.00 this includes V.A.T, All training, workbooks, Materials used, exam fees, tool kit and the services of Career Search.
At section 5 there is a fee of £200 for C&G registration/exam.
